China-based company introduces its all-electric scooter
As it takes a step forward in reducing emissions on the environment, China-based brand Da Yang Motors has introduced its all-electric scooter in the Philippines, the Ecooter.
The Ecooter is powered by a 2500W electric motor that is capable of reaching a top speed of 75 km/h, and can run for 80 kms when fully-charged. Its central motor has adopted a new magnet design, which brings higher energy efficiency, resulting an output of 77 lb-ft. The Ecooter can accelerate from zero to 40 km/h in 7 seconds.
Powering the Ecooter is a Lithium-Ion battery that can be charged for 6 hours. However, to reduce the hassle of waiting for the battery to completely charge, Ecooter Philippines is currently working to have battery rental charging stations that can be accessed in convenience stores and the brand’s dealers in Metro Manila.
Since it is classified as a bicycle, the Ecooter does not need to be registered.
The Ecooter will be available at a retail price of Php 80,000, and customers are encouraged to participate in the brand’s battery-swap program, wherein the owner can swap its empty battery with a fully-charged ones at the participating convenient stores.
For those who still prefer to fill-up the battery in their households or in any place where there is enough power supply, Ecooter PH also offers a charging kit (including a battery and charging adapter) priced at Php 30,000.
The Ecooter’s battery has a two-year warranty, and one-year for the scooter.
