Adventure bikes deserve an adventure helmet, no less. While nobody’s going to stop you from riding one wearing an open-face helmet, you’d not only look silly in the process but that would erode any semblance of respect for you from your fellow adventure bike riders. Always remember, in the world of adventure bikes image is everything, even if your adventure is just around the corner at your local coffee shop. Ok wearing an open-face helmet is better than not wearing any helmet at all, but you could definitely improve your adventure image tenfold when you wear this Commander adventure helmet from Italian helmet maker Airoh.
The Airoh Commander is characterized by an attractive look and is particularly suited for an all-terrain, all-around riding. What I like most about the Commander is that it can be used in two different configurations; with peak for all-road use, and without peak for on-road use, say for example when you’re riding a naked bike. It features an extra-wide visor with an integrated pinlock lens, a three-point ventilation system, an aerodynamic peak, a retractable sun visor and provisions for Bluetooth systems. At 1430 grams it’s also one of the lightest adventure helmets in the market. It also comes with free action camera mounting hardware.
I used the Airoh Commander during the Moto Guzzi V85TT launch in Thailand a couple of months ago (see photos) and I could attest to its performance; It offers great field of visibility. It’s quiet even at high speeds. It’s ventilation system kept me cool even in the high humidity Thai weather. I especially like that it comes with free GoPro compatible action camera mounts. Best of all, it made me look like a legit adventure bike rider. It’s a bit on the pricey side at PhP 24,900. But you’ll definitely get what you pay for in terms of styling, performance and versatility. It’s a two-in-one helmet, after-all. Get yours in Bikerbox.
