Toyota Motor Philippines is celebrating music and talent at the Toyota Classics 2018. It is bringing in the internationally-renowned Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) from London, under the baton of conductor and harpsichordist Steven Devine, and globally-renowned singer Lea Salonga on November 7, 2018 at the Theater of Solaire Resort & Casino.
The OAE has been performing for over three decades now. A couple of the compositions to be performed are Handel’s Water Music, Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor and Mozart’s Symphony No. 25.
This year’s Toyota Classics will focus on the theme “Music that Moves Lives”. Following Toyota’s vision of providing mobility for all, this celebration supports the ‘Star Your Impossible’ campaign that aims to inspire people to aim for their dreams and make their impossible happen.
Baroque music – a style composed between the years 1600 and 1750 – will be performed by the OAE for the audience. This style of music expanded the size, range, and complexity of instrumental performance.
Inaugurated in 1990, the Toyota Classics is one of Toyota’s largest ventures to elevate the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility. Over the past 29 years, this event has raised close to USD 9.50 million for beneficiaries across the Asia Pacific Region. It has helped advocate sustainable development and classical music in different countries across Asia.
This year’s beneficiary is para-swimmer gold medalist, Mr. Ernie Gawilan and the Philippine Paralympic Committee (PPC). The PPC was founded by the Philippine Sport for the Differently-Abled (Philspada), and now serves as the counterpart of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
Aside from the Philippines, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment will also be performing in Brunei, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
