Porsche has just refreshed the Macan S with a new engine, chassis, brakes, and new exterior and interior features.
To up its performance, a new, more powerful 3.0L V6 turbocharged engine that uses a gasoline particulate filter is under the hood. It now produces 348 BHP (up from 335 BHP) and 354 ft-lb (up from 339 ft-lb) of torque compared to the previous model.
The newly developed engine uses a central turbo layout, putting the new twin-scroll turbocharger in the inner V to reduce the path of the exhaust gas between the combustion chamber and the turbocharger. Porsche says this makes for ‘outstanding and immediate responsiveness’.
Aside from more power, emissions have also been reduced.
Its new chassis features staggered tires and an optimized Porsche Traction Management (PTM) four-wheel drive system. Spring forks on the front axle are now made of aluminum to make it lighter and more rigid, which in turn makes steering more precise.
Aluminum has also been used on the new brake pedal making it 300 grams lighter than the previous design. It is connected to the brake master cylinder via a shortened lever arm to improve pedal feel and brake response.
It also comes with larger and thicker front disc brakes and copper-free brake pads.
Outside, the new Macan S uses a three-dimensional rear LED lightbar and LED headlights, which the interior now comes with a 10.9-inch full-HD touchscreen, Porsche Connect Plus, and Porsche Connect services.
