As new President and Managing Director for Nissan Philippines, Atsushi Najima acknowledges that he has big shoes to fill. Under the leadership of outgoing President and Managing Director Ramesh Narasimhan, Nissan has seen significant growth in its sales volume in the Philippine market, growing by 40% to an 8.7% market share in 2018. Although based in Manila, Atsushi will report to Vincent Wijnen, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Nissan Asia & Oceania. “With his rich experience in managing teams across multiple countries, I am confident that Atsushi will continue to drive the strong growth trajectory established by the current leadership team,” said Vincent. In his new role, Atsushi will be responsible for developing business strategies to maximize Nissan’s overall performance, managing product introductions, and expanding the availability of the Nissan brand in the Philippines under its midterm plan Nissan M.O.V.E. to 2022.
Atsushi previously spent 18 years at Procter & Gamble, where he served as Associate Director for P&G Singapore, Finance Manager for P&G Japan, and Country Finance Manager for P&G Malaysia and Singapore. He then joined Nissan in 2016, as General Manager of Nissan Motor Yokohama, and Deputy General Manager of Nissan’s regional financial management group in Japan. In a brief interview with members of the Media, Atsushi stressed how he plans to continue the goals that Narasimhan has established, while maintaining to keep customers as the number one focus. Naresh Narasimhan will be taking the role of President for Nissan Thailand, which serves as a major export base for the brand.
