Mitsubishi Unveils Next-Generation MPV for 2018

Concept meets production with Mitsubishi’s newest offering

Mitsubishi has just pulled the covers off of what they are calling the star of Indonesia’s 2017 International Auto Show. With a name yet to be revealed, this all-new MPV will be built by Mitsubishi’s newest Indonesian factory.

With much of the design a carryover from the Mitsubishi XM Concept that was shown locally, this new MPV features the bold “Dynamic Shield” grill and three sets of front lights; slim LED running lights placed higher at bonnet level, headlights at mid-grill level, and fog lights located at the base of the bumper and plastic skid plate.

Featuring the largest cabin space in its class, this MPV comes with a handful of convenience features, such as a remote ignition start and keyless entry, as well as remote headlights that turn on when you need to find your car, and stay on when you disembark, lighting your way for about thirty seconds. Being a seven-seater, the third row is easily accessible and the headroom is generous.

A 1.5-liter gasoline engine with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) powers all variants, with the option for a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. This new MPV also has the highest ground clearance in its class, at 205mm.

No news on a local release, but expect this MPV to go toe-to-toe with the Honda Mobilio, Toyota Avanza, and Suzuki Ertiga. Official release for the Indonesian market is slated for fall of 2017.
