Kia’s all-new city car, the 2017 and 3rd generation Picanto has been launched

A nationwide launch across five Kia locations across the nation

Kia has locally debuted their latest iteration to their signature urban warrior, the all-new Kia Picanto. This third generation model was revealed for the first time at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. The new Picanto was showcased in the performance-oriented GT-Line trim together with the rest of the brand’s other variants, all scheduled for release this year.

In the Philippines, the same specifications seen in the GT-Line will be launched simultaneously in five select dealerships across the country. The locations are as follows; Kia Carmona in Southern Luzon, Kia Pampanga in Central Luzon, Kia Gorordo-Cebu in Visayas, Kia Davao in Mindanao, and the 5th floor of SM Megamall’s building B.

The all-new Picanto is a younger and more dynamic looking sub compact, with Kia’s signature tiger-nose grille that now extends up to the headlights, sharing the family resemblance to the sportier models in the family, such as the Rio and Forte. The exterior also has bolder lines and a more assertive stance helped by an added 15mm to the wheelbase without actually increasing the overall length of the vehicle. On the inside, the cabin gets new materials and a horizontal design meant to highlight the increased cabin space. Overall space has increased over the last model, with taller headroom, more legroom, and wider shoulder room for occupants.

The same tried-and-true 1.0-liter and 1.2-liter engines power the Picanto, with manual and automatic transmission available. The improvements in the chassis also contribute to a more stable driving experience, which provides a better direct connection from the steering wheel to the road, leading to surefootedness and better driving dynamics.
