Kia Philippines cemented its place in the local automotive scene with the launch of the highly-anticipated Stinger GT at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show.
Under the leadership of AC Industrials, Kia Philippines has introduced three new vehicles in the market since the beginning of the year. The introduction of the Stinger GT, along with the Forte GT, succeeds the January arrival of the latest company’s subcompact offering — the Soluto.
Mr. Manny Aligada, President of Kia Philippines, led the unboxing of the most-awaited Stinger GT to the eager crowd.
The Stinger GT has made waves abroad for quite sometime now. And for good reason. The performance delivered by the 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbocharged powerhouse, mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission, gives the staple European models a run for their money. The RWD drivetrain puts power to the ground with 365 bhp @ 600 rpm and maximum torque of 376 lb-ft @ 1300-4500 rpm. It has a top speed of 270 km/h, and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Not bad for a practical sedan.
The Stinger GT sports a MacPherson Strut and Stabilizer front suspension and a Five (5) Multi-Link at the rear. Uncompromising on technology, the Stinger GT has electronically controlled Dynamic Suspension integrated with Drive Mode Select, which adjusts steering boost, shift points, throttle and suspension mapping. Dynamic Torque Vectoring system comes standard. Braking is powered by 4-Piston Brembo Caliper Discs on the Front and Rear. The 225/40 R19 in front and 255/35 R19 inch performance tyres come as standard.
But the Stinger GT offers a lot more than power and performance. Designed by Peter Schreyer and Gregory Guillaume, two of Kia’s chief designers, the car proudly stands as Kia’s flagship model with the elegance and athleticism that surrounds its entirety. This fastback boasts impeccable build quality on either exterior or interior. It’s also equipped with the latest technology and driver assistance. Auto Cruise Control and Blind Spot detection come standard, while the 360-Degree Around View Monitoring System and Parking Sensors offer confidence on the road. The centerpiece of the infotainment system is an 8″ touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
The Stinger GT strikes an exquisite balance among luxury, performance, and functionality. It is a gran turismo wrapped in an aggressive stance with a subtly muscular fastback design.
“A true gran turismo, a car for spirited long-distance driving, is not about outright power, hard-edged dynamics and brutal styling, all at the expense of luxury, comfort, and grace,” explains Gregory Guillaume.
“The Stinger has nothing to do with being the first to arrive at the destination – this car is all about the journey. It’s about passion,” he further added.
The Stinger GT is available in three colors: Hi Chroma Red, Aurora Black, and Snow Pearl White.
