Hino’s Mobile Kitchens to provide meals during calamities

Hot meals and quick service at the ready

With increase awareness for the importance of relief operations during times of calamities, Hino Motors Philippines (HMP), the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines, with the assistance of Hino Davao, recently completed two mobile kitchens for the Davao City government.

Part of Davao City’s Social Services and Development Office, the mobile kitchens, which are built on Hino’s WU600L chassis, and are equipped with two heavy-duty cooking facilities for each truck, a water dispenser, and a mini water reservoir. Each unit has a complete set of kitchen utensils and a foldable serving table at the side.

The mobile kitchens will enable quick response to emergencies and provide meals to beneficiaries within 8 to 12 hours after a calamity strikes. Besides victims, in particular children, the elderly, and pregnant women, the beneficiaries include rescuers and evacuees from other areas or provinces struck by disasters, with the trucks able to provide hot meals, soup, and other ready-to-eat food when needed.

HMP President Mr. Hiroshi Aoki had this to say; “Hino is honored to have been given the opportunity to contribute to this project. As we affirm our commitment to supporting the community, we will continue to leverage our ability to assemble and distribute quality trucks and buses designed to address the different needs of Filipinos, not only in terms of trucking and logistics but also during times of emergency.”

Both the 1st and 2nd districts of Davao City will use the mobile kitchens, and plans are underway to procure another unit for the third district very soon.
