Chinese automaker GAC Motor finished first at this year’s Kalayaan Cup Endurance Challenge under the Manufacturers Class for both the 4-hour and 12-hour segments.
Presented by Petron Corporation, the race began at 5:30 am on June 12 at the Clark International Speedway (CIS).
The GAC Motor Race Team placed second after the four hour run, and finished its first ever 12-hour Endurance place in fourth place. The members were Brennan Lim, Mark Bernardo, Francis Arjonillo, Aurick Go, Sung Joon Park, Andre Tan, Jun Magno, and E.Z. Ligaya.
They raced with a 1.5-liter GAC GA4 sedan and proved its worth on the track. It reached the chequered flag after 12 hours without any issue.
GAC Motor is a newcomer in the Philippine automotive industry, but they didn’t shy away from more experienced competition at CIS.
