With the Christmas season fast approaching, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade has ordered all the sectoral offices and transportation agencies to heighten their measures in preparation for the number of passengers and motorists hitting the road for the holidays.
Starting on December 10, 2018 to January 5, 2019, the DOTr will be implementing its “Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Pasko 2018.” The transportation agencies will implement 24/7 operations and will ensure direct communication with their respective Action Centers mentioned in the memorandum released by Assistant Secretary for Special Concerns Manuel Gonzales.
Sec. Tugade also mandated that all toll booths and terminals will be adequately manned to avoid long queues of passengers in terminals and expressways.
To increase the public awareness on the DOTr’s holiday traffic assistance, regular updates will be posted on various websites and social media accounts of transportation agencies. Public advisories such as road safety tips, common types of violations on documentation requirements, and other information will also be disseminated.
DOTr will also disseminate and post tarpaulins with the various emergency numbers of the agency, especially in remote areas that are under the jurisdiction of the transportation agency and its tapped organizations.
