2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE loaded with more safety features, MHEV powertrain

Auto Nation Group (ANG), the exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the country, has launched the fourth generation of GLE at its EDSA Greenhills showroom.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLE now hosts intuitive safety systems for both the driver and the passengers. It is equipped with a voice-activated MBUX infotainment system and a spacious and comfortable interior that fits seven passengers.

This premium SUV has an active suspension system E-Active Body Control, which is a world’s first, and an Active Stop-andGo Assist. Apart from the spacious cabin, the interior also features a wide digital screen enhanced with a full-color head-up display for a more convenient experience with the MBUX infotainment system.

The GLE showcases a muscular and athletic profile yet follows a harmonious and intelligent design. It has a redesigned body and 21-inch alloy wheels that highlight the vehicle’s strong SUV character.

Compared to its predecessor, this new generation has a longer wheelbase, providing more space on the leg- and headroom for the passengers and the driver. A first in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, the GLE now comes with third-row seats. The rear seats can be electronically adjusted and folded to accommodate longer items and luggage. For easier storage of luggage, the GLE sports a power liftgate which can be opened with a kicking motion underneath the liftgate.

At the heart of the new GLE is an inline-4 turbo diesel engine 9G TRONIC 9-speed Automatic transmission, producing an output and torque of 245 hp and 369 lb.ft. of torque. Like its predecessor, the new GLE also offers 4MATIC all-wheel drive to make the SUV easy to maneuver in various terrains.

A first in Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines, the new GLE is equipped with EQ Boost, a mild hybrid feature wherein energy recovered from braking and the systematic engine shut-offs delivers a boost of energy when needed or when eliminating turbo lag.

For everyone’s safety, the new GLE is equipped with a blind-spot assist, active brake assist, a 360-degree camera, and intelligent driving systems that have risk-mitigating safety features.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz is tagged at a price of Php 5,690,000.
