BMW inaugurated the founding father of the now vast X model lineup in the first-generation BMW X5 20 years ago.
SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., the official importer and distributor of BMW vehicles in the Philippines, continues the storied career of the BMW X5 as it made the newest generation available to the local market. The all-new model comes in a sole variant – the BMW X5 xDrive30d xLine.
Fresh from the covers, the BMW X5 demonstrates authority with its clean surface and precise lines. The xLine variant of the German SUV is marked with distinct design features. At the front, the vehicle shows off a larger one-piece BMW kidney grille finished in Aluminum satin, which is complemented by dual LED headlights. Other exterior cues include the underguard, roof rails, and side window surrounds in Aluminum satinated, along with other accents finished in Pearl-effect chrome.
The latest X5 was launched in the country with one diesel representative from the latest generation of BMW engines. Under the hood is a six-cylinder in-line twin-turbo unit that’s mated with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The X5 xDrive30d xLine is also equipped with BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. It generates a maximum output of 261 bhp at 4,000 rpm, and 457 lb-ft. between 2,000 and 2,500 rpm. This luxury SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds
Inside, the new BMW X5 focuses on giving occupants more space. Giving this added feeling of space is the clear structure of the instrument panel and center console. Both the front and rear seats offer ample accommodation amid an exclusive ambiance. Interior materials include the new Vernasca variant for the standard leather upholstery. Other new features include comfort seats, cooled/heated cupholders, ambient light, and the Harman Kardon sound system.
Installed in the X5 is the new BMW Operating System 7.0 display and control concept. Focused on optimizing attention control, the new system provides drivers with the right information at the right time with clear presentation and structuring, plus customizable and personalized displays. The latest BMW X5 now comes standard with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system, which comprises of an instrument cluster and a Control Display (both 12.3-inches). Multimodal interaction allows the driver to use the steering wheel buttons, iDrive Controller, the touchscreen display, voice control or BMW gesture control.
In the rear, folding down the 40 : 20 : 40 split rear seat backrest increases boot capacity from 650 liters to a maximum 1,860 liters. The X5 also has the two-section tailgate for easier loading. Comfort Access is specified in which both sections can be opened and closed automatically while being hands-free.
The all-new BMW X5 xDrive30d xLine is available at Php 5,990,000.00. The vehicle comes with a 5-year warranty (BMW Repair Inclusive), a first in the premium automotive segment.
The BMW Repair Inclusive includes repairs that are completed at authorized BMW facilities using only original BMW parts to help protect both performance and the automobile’s value.
