After its global debut in Bangkok, Thailand, and intensive test drives in Australia, the most anticipated Ford Ranger Raptor finally landed Philippine shores. This little brother of the North American F-150 Raptor Truck is set to live up to its ‘Built Ford Tough’ mantra in our country.
The size of the new Ranger Raptor is dedicated to the Asia-Pacific and South African markets — it’s 1873 mm tall, 2180 mm wide, and 5398 mm long. Like the regular Ranger, it has the iconic black grille, but with the embellished F-O-R-D letters, like on the F-150.
The Ranger Raptor now also has upgraded brakes, proper underbody protection, all-terrain tires, an integrated tow bar, and four tow hooks — defining this pick-up as an off-road monster.
Outside, it has a new pair of LED fog lamps in the front bumper that include functional details such as built-in air-curtain ducts. Since this vehicle is larger, it has a ground clearance of 283 mm — allowing the Ranger Raptor to make a 32.5 angle approach, climb a ramp at 24 degrees, and go down the ramp at 24 degrees.
To ensure rear axle lateral stability, the Ranger Raptor is equipped with all-new Watt’s linkage rear suspension with coilover rear springs.
This monster pick-up is also equipped with racing-spec dampers, and standard front and read Fox Racing Show shock absorber, enabling the vehicle to have a first class, plush and comfortable ride on road and off-road.
To measure the usefulness of the Ranger Raptor, it has a towing capacity of 2500 kg and a 1560 mm x 1743 mm tray, spacious enough to carry the luggage you have.
Its new powertrain car features innovative technologies that help the Ranger Raptor produce more power and torque without compromising the fuel efficiency. Its engine, transmission, driveline, steering, brakes, and the Electronic Stability Control are specifically made to bear off-road driving conditions.
The Ford Ranger Raptor is the first model to use a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine that is mated with the same 10-speed automatic transmission found in the F-150, which results to better acceleration, responsiveness, and more accurate gear changes.
Other technologies include Ford SYNC 3, Satellite Navigation System, Ford Stability Control with Roll Mitigation Function, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Load Adaptive Control, and Trailer Sway Control. It also comes with rear parking sensors, and a rear-view camera to conveniently park the vehicle.
The 2018 Ford Ranger Raptor will be available at a price of Php 1,898,000.
