The newest MX-5 RFs will soon be seen on our streets
As the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles and parts in the country, Bermaz Auto Philippines handed over the keys of the first batch of owners of the latest, fourth generation MX-5 RF on the final day of the 2017 Manila International Auto Show.
MX-5 ND Chief Designer and now the model’s Program Manager, Masashi Nakayama, from Mazda Corporation, Japan, graced the special event and personally turned over the keys to the first eleven new RF owners in the country.
It also comes as no surprise that most of the new MX-5 RF owners are members of the Miata Club Philippines. A 20-year old car club in itself, its members are, of course, MX-5 enthusiasts whose loyalty to the two-seat, open top roadster has remained steadfast over the years.
The MX-5 RF (Retractable Fastback) is the latest addition to the lineup of MX-5 variants since its debut in 1989. With its timeless sports car styling, Mazda has aimed to provide the additional safety, security and functionality of a power retractable hardtop, with the classically elegant form of a fastback.
It boasts the same compact packaging as the soft-top model, with a minimal 5mm increase in the height of the roof. It still maintains the same overall length, width, and wheelbase, however. This compact packaging properly expresses the stability and dynamism of the car’s road-gripping stance.
