Nissan Triggers Tremors in Cebu

Cebu City experienced a powerful shake last May 25 and 26, felt particularly in their automotive sector, as Nissan launched two new showrooms in the city and the unveiled the latest, most upscale variant of their segment-leading people-mover, the Urvan Premium.

The first new showroom, Nissan Cebu South, formally opened its doors on May 25. Located along Highway Linao, Talisay City, Nissan Cebu South is a 3,000 square-meter, single-storey structure that can accommodate eight vehicles in its showroom and 20 vehicles in its service area. The Goho-family-owned Nissan Cebu South is built noticeably beside other automotive dealerships. That isn’t a problem, since the same family owns the adjacent dealerships under their Visayas-wide Gateway Motors automotive dealership network.

The following evening, Nissan Cebu Central, along A. Soriano Avenue in the North Reclamation Area, opened the doors to its 5,000 square-meter, two-storey building, through Autosynergy, Inc.. Its showroom has a similar eight-vehicle capacity, while its proximity to Ouano Avenue makes it very accessible to those in the financial district to shop for a new Nissan vehicle; to have their current Nissan vehicle serviced; or to purchase a certified pre-owned, 225-point checked and warrantied Nissan under their new Nissan Intelligent Choice program.

Both showrooms feature Nissan’s new global retail design standard, Nissan Retail Environment Design Initiative 2.1 (NREDI 2.1). NREDI 2.1 is the brand’s newest retail visual design, developed and implemented by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd to its global dealership network.

“In the past year, the Nissan brand has grown significantly in the region of Cebu,” said Ramesh Narasimhan, President and Managing Director of Nissan Philippines Inc. “And to continue to support this growth, we are very excited to be opening not just one, but two new NREDI compliant dealerships, allowing us to enhance our Cebuano customers’ experience with the Nissan brand.”

In the Philippines, the Nissan Cebu South dealership is the third showroom to carry this global design, while Nissan Cebu Central is the fourth; part of only a handful of NREDI dealerships in the world. Nissan Sucat and Marilao were the first and second, respectively.

NREDI 2.1 boasts a number of stand-out features, including a spacious interior layout and leading-edge styling along with Nissan’s iconic Red Tablet, a signal to visitors and customers of the exciting vehicles and technologies on display inside. Passersby will enjoy the view into the dealership through its open and expansive glass walls. The new design was made with the customer as the priority to enhance their experience with the brand while in the showroom.

Grand All Day, All Night

Upon entering the Nissan Drive area, guests are greeted by a large digital display wall with Nissan’s featured vehicle. The feature anchors the entry and immediately captures attention. The interior lighting effects capture each display car’s craftsmanship and design, even at night, and can be visibly seen from the outside. The grand showroom’s vast space encourages customers and guests to roam freely and explore the different vehicles on display.

Showroom-cum-Premium Customer Lounge

The premium customer lounge, the heart of the NREDI 2.1 dealership experience, allows both current and new Nissan customers to have a relaxing and enjoyable visit. Guests who want to engage with an advisor can choose where they want to sit. Their options range from gallery benches, café tables, high bars, comfortable club chairs, sofas, and semi-private worktables. The carpeted lounge is also furnished with cozy seats and a dropped timber ceiling with lights. Refreshments are also available at the Refuel Bar, adding to the environment’s premium feel.

Open Conversations

The consultation area with its semi-private offices, separated by glass walls, are specially designed for customer and advisor engagement, offering customers privacy but promoting brand transparency at the same time. Customers can now have an open experience with dealership advisors thanks to the roomy new interiors and comfortable seats and tables.

Retail Therapy

A new addition to the showroom is the parts and accessories boutique. It is equipped with moveable wall displays and gallery fixtures so that customers can decide on the appropriate features and accessories for their vehicle. Here, guests are encouraged to browse and shop while waiting for their vehicle at the service bay.

Service with, uh, Service

The service car reception area is equipped with service write-up pods to enable one-on-one interactions between customers and their advisors. The presence of digital screens in the area allows service customers to see the menu of available services and promotions, promoting even more transparency with customers.

Overwhelming Turnovers

The premiere delivery area creates a truly celebratory experience for customers. During the new vehicle delivery process, the car is unveiled with a red curtain and focal halo lighting to excite and delight the customer taking delivery. And the presence of mirrored glass doors enables the customer to see themselves with their new car. Finally, upon reviewing the vehicle’s specifications to the customer, both may opt to proceed to the high bar so that all the other guests can share and celebrate the moment.

 

THE NEW URVAN PREMIUM

An additional reason to celebrate the formal opening of the Nissan Cebu Central showroom was the unveiling of the new Nissan Urvan Premium within the 5,000-square meter facility’s glass walls.

Upon first sight, the Urvan Premium is striking. Design features such as Nissan’s V-shaped grille, more angular head lamps, and flowing character lines on the front and side adds to the elegance of the vehicle. The contemporary look of the Urvan Premium is enhanced by removing the side roof drip channel, as well as the textured treatment around the wheel openings, coupled with a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs.

Inside, suede-like tricot fabric cover the 15 individual seats; while the gray, suede-finished headliner adds a touch of class to the Urvan Premium. Complementing these design touches is a two-tone dashboard that give the impression of a wider, roomier cockpit.

Premium Means Comfort

The Nissan Urvan Premium is designed with the comfort of all occupants in mind. Its wider and higher body, 5,230mm long and 2,285mm tall, provides passengers on long drives with ample leg and head room.

A new seating configuration – five total rows; four in the rear cabin – enables the Urvan Premium to carry up to 15 passengers, while still leaving enough space for their luggage. To keep everything cool when the cabin is fully occupied, 14 individual air conditioning vents are positioned in the Urvan Premium’s rear cabin – one for each passenger.

Enhanced Convenience

Ingress into and egress out of the Urvan Premium has also become easier, with a sliding door opening height of 1,580mm and Door Closure Assist. Door Closure Assist allows passengers to close the sliding door firmly with minimal effort. Adding to the passenger convenience are a rear step board, rear ingress/egress grips and a usable hand rail.

Premium Power

Powering the Nissan Urvan Premium is a torque-rich 2.5-litre CRDI engine, the same one used in the award-winning Nissan Navara pick up, mated to a five-speed manual transmission; the only transmission choice available for now. With 356 Nm of torque on tap, take-off and acceleration are effortless regardless of load or road inclination; a phenomenal improvement over the previous Urvan. Body roll – observed as we drove the Urvan Premium from Mandaue City to Kandaya resort on the northern tip of the island – is dramatically reduced, further adding to the premium feel of the vehicle. Other premium features built into the Urvan Premium include an anti-lock brake system with brake assist, child safety locks, dual front airbags and seatbelts, front fog lamps and a load tensioning valve.

Convenient Ownership

Apart from design enhancements, the convenience of the Nissan Urvan Premium extends to its ownership experience. The Urvan Premium’s cost of maintenance is significantly lower versus other vans in its segment. It is also the first in the industry to provide warranty coverage for business use, allowing customers to have their vehicle serviced for the first three years, or 100,000kms (whichever comes first) at no additional cost.
