2018 Mitsubishi Xpander officially unveiled
After its global debut at the Gaikindo Motor Show last year, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation has officially launched the highly anticipated MPV in the country, the Xpander, which was revealed at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
This new entry in B-segment crossover will be the new competitor of the Honda BR-V, and Toyota Rush, which will be launched soon in the country.
Under the hood, the Xpander is equipped with a 1.5 L 4A91 MIVEC DOHC 16-valve engine, which gives a maximum output of 105PS / 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 141Nm/4,000rpm. This enables the Xpander to have less vibration and less noise for smooth and quiet driving performance.
Outside, the Xpander flaunts Mitsubishi Motors’ Dynamic Shield design concept. It has a luxurious front grille, LED position lamps arranged in a crystal-like blocks, a unique headlight design with lamp layout that prevents the blinding effects of headlight glare. For its sportier look, the Xpander is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels for GLX variant, and 16-inch two-tone alloy for GLX Plus, GLS, and GLS Sport variants.
The Xpander’s interior offers a lot of highly functional features. It has an interior length of 2,840 mm to provide a comfortable space for maximum of seven adults, and lets the passengers enter and exit the vehicle with ease. Access to third row seats is also made easier with the tumbling system for folding the second row seats. For an even more comfortable ride, the armrest in second row is a part of seat back which can be utilized as a large armrest to accommodate two passengers’ elbows or center space which can be used to load long items.
With its high 205mm ground clearance in seating position, the body is optimized for clear visibility with reduced blind spots. For luggage capacity, the XPANDER is the only vehicle in its class that has a flat luggage floor without bumps and gaps. Its maximum cargo capacity is 1,630 liters when both the second and third row seats are folded. The seats can be arranged in various combinations to accommodate different type of cargo.
Other features of the Xpander include 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with GPS navigation system, MP3 player/tuner with AUX, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity, and easy link feature. The steering wheel is also equipped with audio remote switch and cruise control.
The Xpander also offers superior convenience to its passengers by providing several storages/pockets for valuables and various small items. 12V power outlets are also readily available for first, second and third row passengers for more convenient trips.
You may test drive the new Mitsubishi Xpander at the MPV’s Xpo, which will also take place at the World Trade Center starting today until March 4. The gates will be open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, while the head-to-head test drive will be held from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Mitsubishi will begin to deliver the all-new Xpander in May. The prices are as follows:
