BMW officially unveils the X3 in the PH
Last Friday, SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation (SMCACDC) – the importer, distributor, and service provider of BMW automobiles in the country – launched the all-new BMW X3 in the Philippines. The unveiling event was held at the High Street Ampitheatre in Bonifacio Global City, where the public could likewise catch a glimpse of the brand’s latest take on ‘Sheer Driving Pleasure’.
The premium mid-size Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) looks attractively muscular, struts a long bonnet, now has a wheelbase that is 5cm longer, and boasts of an even more balanced weight distribution between the front and rear axle, compared to its predecessor. It is now also up to 55kg lighter – thanks to the increased use of aluminum components in the engine and suspension systems, and to the inclusion of plastics and state-of-the-art composites in the vehicle build. Notably, it is the first time that a hexagonal design is applied to the fog lamps of a BMW X model.
Inside the cabin, the X3 lives up to the expectation of luxury amid an ergonomically-designed cockpit, made from fine materials, with excellent fit and finish. This latest model now includes 3-zone automatic climate control, the latest version of the BMW iDrive system, and now features BMW’s special gesture control – which allows the infotainment system to be operated using simple finger and hand gestures – a feature that has previously been exclusive to the BMW 7 series. To make the driving experience more special, customers can even choose from 6 color tones of ambient lighting to bathe the interior in, namely: orange, lilac, mint, bronze, blue or white.
Furthermore, the new X3 comes with a parking assistant that this time not only aids the driver in positioning the car into a parallel parking slot, but can also position the vehicle into lateral parking spaces.
The all-new BMW X3 will be locally available in 2 trims: the xLine and M Sport models. Both carry a 2.0L BMW TwinPower turbo-diesel engine, capable of exploiting 190HP and 400Nm of torque. The engine is mated with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission with gearshift paddles, and has significant improvements in efficiency compared to that of the outgoing model. In addition to the vehicle’s further-optimized aerodynamic design and proportions, its BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system also carries new enhancements.
The all-new BMW X3 xDrive20d is now priced at Php 4,390,000 for the xLine trim; and Php 4,590,000 for the M Sport.
FYI, it comes in an amazing, new paint shade – Phytonic Blue.
