Yaptinchay claims 5th win in PACS
Another tight battle highlighted the premier category of the 5th Luzon Round of the Philippine Autocross Championship Series at the SM City Novaliches parking lot on a Father’s Day weekend, with Danby Yaptinchay emerging as champion.
Aboard his Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Yaptinchay edged his chief rival Paolo Santos by the proverbial skin of his teeth, pulling off a close .07 of a second win.
Entering the halfway mark of the 2017 season, Yaptinchay and Santos are now back to square one as they are tied in the Overall Standing for the 2017 PACS Championship.
In the Ladies’ Class, Elaine Guzman in her Nissan Sentra B14 inched her way to a .38-second win over Susie Isana and her Honda Civic EG.
PACS’ lady rookie Christine Torres, driving her Toyota Corolla AE92, followed them in 3rd place.
Meanwhile, in the one-make class of the KYB-Yaris, Robert Tan secured a .44-second win over Lester Shih of the Flat Out Race Series team.
Novice Modified Class drivers also joined the thrilling action as Ryan Ablang rode his Honda Civic EG Hatchback to a .06 of a second triumph over Marvin Montecillo in his Honda Jazz for the novice overall best time of the day.
On the other hand, Edward Zuñiga drove his Honda Civic EG to a .18-second win over Ablang and Montecillio in the race sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines, represented by Jun Espino and Art Guevarra, thereby assuring the safety standards of the event.
